Our intended stop this week was unexpectedly closed. Therefore, we chose the nearest place that neither of us had been to and ended up at Aroogas Grille House & Sports Bar.

The Digs
There are several seating areas to choose from when dining at this establishment. There is the bar area that has barstools and high-top tables. There is also the dining area that has tables and booths. And there is outside seating with inviting fire pits. We sat in the bar area, as it was raining a bit when we arrived. Otherwise, the fire pits were calling my name!! And did I mention the TV's? They are everywhere! Every seat in the house has an amazing view to TV's located throughout. I can imagine this place is quite busy every Sunday during football season.

The Service
We were promptly seated upon arrival. I wouldn't say the place was packed on a Tuesday night, but there was a good number of people there. The staff was friendly and helpful. The gentleman who waited on us had to check on the availability of a couple items, but we did not wait long for our questions to be answered. After ordering, our drinks and food did not take too long to arrive. Overall, we were satisfied with the service we received.
The Tastebud Delights
On to the best part - the food!! Well, first the drinks. They have an extensive beer selection to choose from. Many of the beers are local craft beers, but they also offer the traditional brands you might see elsewhere. Cocktails, wine, and champagne are also on the menu if that's more your style. My selection was the Freedom Tower American Amber Ale from Tank Brewing Company, located in Miami FL. It was smooth going down and had a roasted flavor with notes of caramel. My husband got the McStagger Imperial IPA from Crooked Can Brewing Company in Winter Garden FL. This beer is a bit more hoppy than the red ale, but has a deep flavor and is not overly bitter.

Now onto the food - for real this time! The menu has a nice variety of items ranging from appetizers to desserts. They offer the typical greasy bar food, along with salads, soups, wings, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, entrees, and something called a Boli. They also have a nice dessert menu. I was initially leaning toward the Perogies appetizer, but I ended up selecting the Street Tacos, and my husband ordered a Boli.

They have several taco fillings to choose from, so I chose the Beer-Battered Alaskan Cod Street Tacos. The order came with 3 tacos along with tortilla chips and salsa on the side. I asked if I could have three different flavored tacos, but they only allowed one selection for all three. I was happy with my choice. The tacos had a mango salsa that was delicious! It added just enough sweet to the savory cod. The cod was cooked to perfection, and I could taste the lightness of the fish, even though it was battered and fried. It was not too greasy and definitely hit the spot! And those of you who know me know I can't be trusted with chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and greasy and of course I ate the whole thing!! The salsa was good too, but I could have used just a tad bit more of it. I was definitely satisfied with this dish.

My husband ordered the Cheesesteak Boli. The Boli's seemed like a cross between a panini and a calzone. I thought it tasted good but was glad I got the tacos, as cheesesteaks really aren't my thing. My husband thought it was a tad bit greasy and he would have liked more meat on the Boli. Otherwise, he enjoyed it.

The Takeaway
We would definitely like to return to Aroogas to catch a game and enjoy some of their daily specials. The food was good, and the atmosphere was inviting. It was not overly expensive either. I'd call this visit a win and look forward to next time (I have my eye on those Perogies).
